In addition
to being a full service provider of corporate real estate services,
JFA has a significant history of creation of complex technological
facilities for deployment in the broadcast/production and healthcare
businesses both as a Project Manager and as a Developer. JFA's
extensive project management expertise, combined with our
state-of-the-art project management tools and systems allows JFA to
maintain control over the most complex and demanding projects.
With Fox as
one of our primary initial clients, JFA was called upon to manage
the development of several large-scale broadcast and production
facilities. Several years ago, several similarities between the
development of entertainment and medical facilities were noted. Both
require extensive power and technical infrastructures. Both must
address the specialized problems of radiation and electromagnetic
shielding. Both require the ability to design with the future in
mind to be able to adapt to constantly changing technological
developments. Both types of facilities are heavily regulated by
state and federal authorities, which impose an extra layer of
complexity on our project management and our reporting routines.
Finally, both types of projects are considerably more complex and
demanding than are typical commercial real estate development
projects. Due to these similarities, we began several years
ago to pursue development of projects in the medical arena.
In the following
sections, we share some of our experiences in the development of
these highly specialized facilities.
